ZAKASIA PUPPIES.
All Zakasia puppies are extremely well socialised, spending much of their time in the house, with our other dogs and getting use to the normal household goings-on, such as vacuuming, washing machine, television, phones and children. Our puppies are all registered with the Kennel Club. They are microchiped, insured for at least 6 weeks from leaving & wormed fortnightly from 2 weeks old. They are all raw fed.
All our puppies are from Hip Scored parents of excellent character and health. When ready to venture into their new homes at around 7 to 8 weeks old, each new puppy owner receives a puppy pack, which contains all the necessary KC registration and paperwork for their puppy. We also include a 5 generation pedigree and a comprehensive advice sheet with info on basic training, feeding, worming etc and much more.
At Zakasia we pride ourselves on the fact that when we sell a puppy, the new owner/s become our friends and can call on us for advice or support at any time. Although rare, occasionally things can wrong and if necessary, we will take back any dog we have bred, at any age. To this end, we require all puppy buyers to sign a contract, which requires them to return the dog to us, if they are unable to keep it. This contract also provides a number of provisions, which protect the new owners following their purchase of a puppy from us, therefore benefiting both parties.
All our puppies have their kennel club registrations endorsed with:-
1. Progeny not eligible for registration
2. Not eligible for export.
These endorsements are for the welfare of the animal and we hope will help discourage indiscriminate breeding. However, if a puppy buyer wants to breed a litter of puppies, the dog must be hip-scored 20 or less and be of sound mind and body, with something to offer the breed. If all this applies only then will we consider removal of the endorsement to allow progeny registration. We will also provide suitable support, guidance and advice where necessary. In addition, if an owner were considering emigration then this endorsement regarding export can and will be removed for them.
ZAKASIA GSD's are also committed to the following:
The Scheme currently has the following requirements:
Accredited Breeders must:
Ensure that all breeding stock is Kennel Club registered.
Hand over the dog's registration certificate at time of sale if available, or forward it to the new owner as soon as possible. Explain any endorsements that might pertain and obtain written and signed confirmation from the new owner, at or before the date on which the dog is physically transferred, that the new owner is aware of the endorsement(s), regardless of whether or not the endorsed registration certificate is available.
Follow Kennel Club policy regarding maximum age and number/frequency of litters.
Permanently identify breeding stock by DNA profile, microchip, or tattoo.
Make use of health screening schemes, relevant to their breed, on all breeding stock. These schemes include DNA testing, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and inherited eye conditions.
Socialise the puppies and provide written advice, in the Puppy Sales Wallet, on continuation of socialisation, exercise and future training.
Provide written advice, in the scheme Puppy Sales Wallet, on feeding and worming programmes.
Provide a written record, in the Puppy Sales Wallet, on the immunisation measures taken.
Provide reasonable post-sales telephone advice.
Inform buyers of the requirements and the recommendations that apply to Kennel Club Accredited Breeders as well as the existence of the complaints procedure.
Draw up a contract of sale for each puppy and provide a copy in the Puppy Sales Wallet.
In addition there are a number of recommendations:
Accredited Breeders are strongly encouraged to:
Make sure that whelping facilities accord with good practice.
The contract of sale should clearly lay out to the buyer the nature and details of any guarantee given (e.g. time limit) and/or any provisions for refund or return and replacement of puppy. If endorsements are being used the contract should also explain why these have been placed and under what circumstances they would be removed (if any). The contract should be signed and dated by both breeder and purchaser, showing that both have agreed to these terms.
Commit to help, if necessary, with the re-homing of a dog, for whatever reason, throughout the dog's lifetime.
Follow relevant breed health screening recommendations.
